Roam Around Glasgow | Montana’s Missouri River Country

Roam Around Glasgow

Glasgow, Montana, has been deemed the official “middle of nowhere,” and that’s part of what makes it so special. The town is charming yet remote, surrounded by more room to roam and full of charming local attractions. While Glasgow’s remote location is part of its draw, folks are still conveniently close to day-trip-worthy destinations like Fort Peck.

Take a day to roam in and around Glasgow with our fully packed map and itinerary. Eat local food, discover dinosaur fossils, fish on Fort Peck and more—you might be surprised by just how much you can pack into a single day out here in the “the middle of nowhere.”

3. Fort Peck Lake

For epic fishing on Fort Peck Lake, your options are endless—after all, this lake has more miles of shoreline than the California coastline! Stop at the Lakeridge Lodge & Bait Shop or Fort Peck Marina to stock up and talk to local fishing guides.

Pro Tip: Fishing near the dam is known for northern pike, walleye, smallmouth bass, salmon, lake trout and a mix of other species. Anglers can also catch these species below the dam in the Missouri River, in Hell Creek—and in other areas of the lake.

4. Milk River Observation Point

Check out the Milk River Observation Point nearby. A short, dirt hiking trail will reward you with beautiful views of the confluence of the Milk River and Missouri River, along with interpretive information about the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
