Driving four-wheel-drive vehicles in Missouri River Country is a blast like no other. Our rolling prairies, fascinating badland formations, mountains, and rivers make for excellent scenery and terrain.
Two great places for ATV riding in Montana’s Missouri River Country are the Little Rockies Recreation Management Area and the Glasgow OHV area, both managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The Little Rockies Recreation Management Area is located in the Little Rocky Mountains, an isolated, heavily timbered range that rises up from expanses of prairie land. ATV trails in this area stem from the Camp Creek main campground and pass through wooded areas and along a creek.
The Glasgow OHV area features 40 acres of varied terrain to suit riders of all experience levels — climbs and natural launches to thrill more expert riders and gentle slopes and open areas for beginners. Most ATV trails in Northeast Montana are on public land, so be sure to check Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service maps for more information. Heed signs regarding ATV use on trails and stay on numbered or designated roads on public lands.
There’s more room to roam and more ways to recreate when you’re in Missouri River Country. Just remember to recreate responsibly, respect our region and stay safe.
