Things to Do In Town
Zortman may be small, but we’re not hurting for things to do in town. The historic Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church sits up on a hill overlooking town. This short trek up to the church offers beautiful views of Zortman, the surrounding buttes, and the expansive landscape surrounding the town. Plus, you get to check out a church that was originally built in the early 20
th century in rugged Montana.

You can visit the Zortman cemetery and see the headstone for the town’s namesake. You will probably drive past the tiny, iconic Zortman jail every day you are in town, but stop out and look around. This is a great example of the Old West at its best!

Originally founded during the gold rush, panning for gold nuggets is still a reality here in Zortman. Check with your accommodations to figure out where is best to go panning for gold! While in town, you will enjoy dining with the locals Miner’s Club restaurant, the spot in town to go to for a nice hot meal and a cold beverage.
