Lighting of the Fairview Bridge

Start the Christmas season off right at the Lighting of the Bridge, Sat., Nov. 22, at Sundheim Park, Fairview. The fun begins at 4 p.m., so bring the kids and the camera because Santa Claus will be making his debut during the festivities. While taking in the wonder of the park, take the opportunity to meet live reindeer, too. In addition to the usual 6’ lighted decorations that embellish the event, another 15 have been added this year. Some of the most notable additions are gingerbread man and gingerbread woman inflatable costumes. Be sure to grab a picture with the gingerbread couple when you see them strolling around. Another exciting inflatable that will be new this year is of Rex the WWII dog, which is also the inspiration for this year’s Jeremy Dean Collectible Ornament. While visiting with friends, family and neighbors, enjoy hot cocoa and free will concessions brought to you by the Fairview baseball kids. The fantastic fireworks show starts at 7 p.m. Be awed as fireworks light up the night from the historic bridge, Paulson Fireworks, Watford City,. This community tradition that has been happening for over a decade is made possible by The Fairview Chamber of Commerce and Friends of the Fairview Bridge, along with the help of those who have donated time, funds and decorations to make it a magical holiday get together. This year’s Lighting of the Bridge is in memory of long-time Chamber and Friends of the Fairview Bridge member Dianne Swanson who was a huge supporter of the bridge, an active member of her community, a diligent reporter and one great lady all around. She will be greatly missed, but always remembered.
